[Dual Post]
As of this evening, the situation concerning one "Yamada, Mamoru" has been resolved.
Paramedics and Domino Police officers responded shortly after an anonymous tip was left sighting Yamada in the Domino Shopping District. When they got there, they found that Mr. Yamada was out cold in the middle of the street. Special Investigations responded shortly thereafter to assess the scene and collect evidence of what happened from there, while Police roped off the area and Paramedics attended to Mr. Yamada.
From what it looks like, there we no further injuries once Mr. Yamada entered town. Mr. Yamada himself is being treated, and is currently listed in good condition; he should be released within the next few days, pending police cooperation.
We at Special Investigations are glad that the situation was resolved peacefully - though there's no telling exactly what may have been the caused Mr. Yamada's sudden manic state, we remain committed to investigating further into this matter.
[Event]
[Obviously, that's not the full story.
Onni's at SpecInv, looking at a desk with a bunch of photos and bags spread out across it, wearing a pair of slacks, a dress shirt, and nursing a still-steaming cup of coffee.
His brows are furrowed, and he appears rather frustrated.]

I'm trying to decide between a black halter top or a white wife beater for my date.

[Picks up one of the shards of Scythe recovered, fuming and then setting it back down.]
no subject
::Points at the shard::
And personally I prefer wearing a wife beater.

[Looking through photos - burn marks on the ground, drag marks, pictures of the unconscious Mr. Yamada.]
Well, where are you guys going? What's the dress code? Fancy or casual?
no subject
::Rubs her chin, befuddled.::

...I'd go for the halter top. Machine World tends to be kind of nouveau riche from what I've seen.
no subject
Nouveau riche? How so? I really don't know much about the place. Frankly, almost no one does.
no subject
Just that feeling I get. Gaudy and extravagant seems the way they'd do things - when you get there, that is.
no subject
How does machine equal gaudy.

So, hey, Chief?
In this job, do the crimes usually like, solve themselves like that?
'Cause if they do, I gotta wonder why you have such a low transfer rate from the rest of the police force.
no subject
No, Junior Detective.
They usually don't solve themselves like that. That's the puzzling part.
no subject
What the heck happened, then?
I mean I'm glad nobody else got hurt, but, um, why.
no subject
Maybe a fresh pair of eyes could give me a hand here. You wanna help out and take a crack at it?

[He pulls out the casefile, slapping it on the desk. It opens up -inside are a few more photos - cracked ground, in a circle, scorch marks along the concrete, the shattered pieces of the scythe, and an unconscious man lying on the ground.]
So here's what we got. The story more or less holds up to public eye - researcher finds an artifact, goes nuts, attacks his colleagues. That much is true enough. He decides to trek into Domino - no one really knows why. He gets to the shopping district, people run and call the cops...
And then we get there, and the dude's face-down in a puddle of his own drool. The artifact is in a dozen pieces, and the guy doesn't remember a damn thing between picking up the scythe and us hauling him into the ambulance.
So that's where we stand, right now.
no subject
[She goes through the file.]
....says that all the security cameras in the shops in the area suffered some kinda weird interference as soon as he got close to them.
Weird...so nobody actually caught what happened on camera?
no subject
It's obvious something happened, and for our benefit... but who? And why?
no subject
Okay, I have an idea, but it might be sorta stupid.
no subject

Regular cameras won't work, right? But. At least one thing still recorded what happened and that's Yamada's brain, 'cause, y'know, he was there.
Soooo what if we asked a psychic duelist tooooo read his mind?
Do we know any of those?
no subject
Waiiit a moment. Hold on-
[He's pushing away the files, going through what look like records on Yamada...]
That's right... I'd nearly overlooked it - Yamada was a registered psychic duelist, himself.
[He sets down the coffee, grinning a bit.]
Izumi... that could actually work.

If this was a possession case - at least, I'm assuming it was, the sudden berserking seems too on the nose - using that as a way to keep attached to the person in question would be a reasonable way to do it.
His brain would still be active, like you said, and there should be a pretty vivid imprint - even if it's only just flashes.
It might not be much, but it could give us a lead - though we'd have to tap into SAI, most likely, to get a psychic duelist to help us. I know of one in particular... but last I heard, she'd split town.
no subject
Um.
But we should like, ask Yamada first? And probably get some kinda waiver?
'Cause that'd be kinda police state-y if we didn't.
no subject
...I might let you take care of that, because if a psychic brain-dive is as tough as I think it might be...
I'm gonna have to call in a looooot of favors to get her to drop by.
no subject
Who is she?
no subject
no subject
It's pretty ballin'.
no subject
I'm gonna try and get ahold of her partner, the Signer - Isabel Marias.

...ohhhhh....
no subject
She's never gonna let me live this down.
no subject
I heard that after she fell off that...space...thing that showed up a couple years ago, she vanished to go live in the mountains like some kinda crazy hermit or something! How're you gonna get a hold of her?
no subject
But I wouldn't be a very good Chief if I didn't have my ways to track people down, huh?
no subject
Is this one of those things where I should get really worried or I should get really pumped up?
no subject
The truth is, if I need to talk to Isabel...
Then we're probably in deep shit.
I might need to get you on the express lane for our little special project.
