Shinoko Eusebius is to be put on the Persons of Interest list of the Number 96 Case, effective immediately. Any files regardng Dark Mist she has access to are to be left alone, but all updated documents are to be inaccessible and invisible to her.

Yes, this is about as bad as you think it is. This is the closest thing to a red alert this team gets.

When I talked to Ancient Fairy a few days back, I commented about how sporadic the Dark Mist incidents are, she mentioned that it's strange, and suggested someone might be controlling Dark Mist - someone who'd have to be very powerful. The last time anyone saw Ancient Fairy for a couple months after her Dark Mist episode was when she was being collected by a man in a pink shirt, by Shian's own accounts. Given that Shinoko's obviously trying to hide or protect something...

We think she's probably covering for Erland, who has connections to or is outright controlling Dark Mist, and setting herself up as a scapegoat and the primary problem for the 12 Dimensions to focus on, while deflecting responsibility off us for letting it run amok.

Of course, that raises a bunch more questions, like "why would Erland get involved", "wouldn't she know we'd figure that out", and a host of others, but that's what the evidence is leading us to right now.

Probably the one person I really wouldn't want involved in this.

But Shinoko trying to be the scapegoat for something definitely sounds right, considering how she's acting.

So... what do we do now? Find Shinoko? Question Erland?

Yeaaaaah, I really didn't want it to be the case, but the way it's looking there's no way he isn't involved. Just makes the situation that much worse.

I think... we have to play along, right now. Shinoko would know we know, unless she's in a much worse mental state that we think she is, and while we have a bunch of circumstantial stuff that links Erland to the case, I don't think there's any smoking gun we can use to get answers out of him. We definitely have to chase Shinoko down, though.

Then again, the Foundation has a lot more room in how it operates compared to SpecInv, you might be able to question Erland about the time he spent helping Ancient Fairy and find leads there. He and I... don't get along, and if I tried to move something along those lines it'd be a dead giveaway to what we're up to.

There's also another lead I'm working on, which is that Judgeman - part of the 12 Dimension's court system - holds a serious grudge against Dark Mist. There's some 12 Dimensions case files about the initial sentencing of the Numbers that might have more info on Dark Mist, but they're all sealed and Judgeman's the only one who can open the records. So I may have to get on his good side to get us some crucial info.

I'll inform everyone at the foundation to keep an eye out for Shinoko. Since she worked here a lot, everyone knows who she is and will recognize her, but they'll strictly be told not to approach her themselves and to contact me if they do see her.

As for Erland... I could question him about Ancient Fairy, but I'm not sure if it'd be possible without giving away that we at least suspect something is up. I rarely contact him directly unless I have a reason too.

She often was kind of an advisor with some issues here at SpecInv, so if she shows up here I'll make sure everyone knows to let me or you know.

Yeah, that's the tricky part, we really can't talk to him directly, or he'll know something's up. I might be able to talk to Ancient Fairy again, but... I dunno how much I can get out of her after this bit with Shinoko.

I'm gonna have to wear a golfing outfit, I'm gonna need more than luck, I'm gonna need a fashion designer...!

If something is going on, I'm not expecting her to turn up at the Foundation... but she might do. To be honest, until things are solved I'll be temporarily suspending her from her duties there anyway, but if she does turn up, I'll let you know.
