I think I can finally start posting to here again. We're still quite a bit ways from the happy ending, but. Well. It seems like a lot of the political types are accepting that even if they want to maneuver around us, they don't know even a tenth of what Juudai and I know about this supernatural stuff, which means we're given quite a fair bit of leverage. For now, anyway.

Now if only that didn't mean mountains of paperwork. Between this and finalization on the building OOPARTS will be in, I've hardly had a moment to myself. Luckily, it's... starting to cool down.

I'm with you guys on steps one and two. It's three where we don't see eye to eye, exactly.

Which is how we ended up in the current situation.

We didn't burn them because they were five people with families and loved ones.

And? All of the Past Dark Signers or allies of the Earthbound Immortals had someone that they were important to.

Disposing of the bodies to make sure they can no longer be used is a sign of respect to those damned to their service, to make sure they can move on, and their soul transmigrate into a better life, untainted by the corruption of the Dark Signer.

We got soft this cycle for some semantics-related reason that goes beyond me.

It blew up in our face.

Which means we have to clean it up.

As I pointed out to Ancient Fairy and Shinoko, she doesn't seem to be using the power of whatever Earthbound she's bound to. And seems... cognizant, on some level.

It's likely this is a mix of some other magical influences she has acquired in the time since the whole Dark Signer incident, but it's not quite blind emotion, like it may have been in the past.

But I won't let you use it as an excuse to retroactively impugn the one time we've acted with some level of humanity in the last 5,000 years.

Those five didn't deserve to lose the rest of their lives just because they were tainted by the Earthbound Immortal and you know as well as I that we would've left this city and this world weaker. If we'd never killed them in the first place in some botched attempt to be proactive, they may never have become emissaries of the Underworld in the first place and we both know it.

In my day, Signers used to be a bunch of kids and folks from regular walks of life.

Not a ghost like you, or whatever Fairy's Signer even is.

It sorta spins things to a new light, doesn't it. There's folks who get revived through strange means other than just, well.

Being used as a tool by a god.

Just... This sounds screwed up, but it wouldn't feel right if I went ahead and tried to kill her again for it. It sounds like this is a choice she made, isn't it?

It does.

I just note what is done in the past and it usually works. You're the emissary of the Dragon Star That Burns Crimson, you ultimately decide. I am the blade that lets you fight.

But the best case is always to kill them from my personal experience.

If you think there's a better way, do it. But by not killing them, both Grant and Futaba have become much larger entities than they should be and that can lead to its own set of problems.

Magic, magic, magic. Magic is nonsense, to me. There's always an explanation and a source for it, even if it causes "amazing" things.

I could always go for the Dark Game route-- try to disable her, cut off whatever kooky thing she's doing, but that can really easily backlash if I'm not confident about it.

And the sad fact is, I know she's very competent, even if I've never faced her myself before.
